Goon, a movie starring Seann William Scott (AKA Stifler from American Pie). I honestly watched the first one because of Stiffler, thought it was just another low-budget comedy. I ended up loving the movie from 2011 and thought it was a genius. It had a great story, some deeply flawed characters that you'd love, plenty of bone-crunching violence and blood! It's an underrated sports movie that most of have not seen. I remember as soon as I saw it I went around recommending it to everyone. Lol Anyway, if you have not seen Goon (1) go ahead and watch it. It has all the above and great sense of humour, story and emotions. (more…)
Science Fiction Volume One: The Osiris Child – An Australian Sci-fi Movie That’ll Put Alien Covenant To Shame!
A few days ago I got my hands on this amazing Australian movie "Science Fiction Volume One: The Osiris Child" (SFVOTOC), even the title sounds cool for a Sci fi junkie like myself. If you have seen Australian movies before you'll know they don't have super high budgets like the Hollywood movies. But they do have some amazing story telling and direction, SFVOTOC would a perfect example. If Road warrior and Firefly went to a bar and had a threesome with Alien, this would be their child. It's gritty, badass, and has an amazing story. The movie is about a disgraced former space pilot who sets off on a barren planet with a convict whose escaped the prison from hell in a race against time to save the pilot's twelve-year-old daughter. The actors have done a great job sticking to their roles, and giving emotions to their characters. The story telling is amazing, you get enough of each and everyone's backstory to know that they are not perfect. I love a movie that surprises me, you don't get that feeling often thanks to the overly spoiling shitty trailers and social media. But this movie went under the radar, in a way it's a good thing. I had no clue what this movie's about to start with, except it's a Science fiction movie (thanks to the awesome title!) (more…)
At the current height of social media, it’s so easy to create a world that lives online. It seems like everyone can be found with a simple Google search. Given the option to join and post on a number of popular sites, information and photos can become freely available to the world, should they go looking for it. But with the ease of sharing information with everyone comes the risk of over sharing. You don’t want things you’ve posted or shared online to come back and haunt you in the future, especially if it doesn’t reflect your true self today. Employers, for example, will often conduct a simple Google search of prospective future employees during the hiring process. If they don’t like what they find, it could have a serious impact on their decision to hire you or not. If you’re looking to get off the grid and un-Google yourself, here are a few steps to help wipe the slate clean! (more…)
Few months ago while I was browsing web for old tv shows, I came across a show called Farscape. Honestly I was big skeptical at first, since I never heard of this show. But then again I was bored didn't really want to watch anything new. This show took me off guard, I was surprised that I didn't see this or no one recommended this to me before. If you know me personally you'd know that I'm a sucker for scifi, especially space/time travel. Let me tell you why I enjoyed this show and what's it about. Do expect some minor spoilers though. Farscape ran for 4 seasons, starting in 1999 and it gained a huge cult following but never got a mainstream attention like some of these other well known scifi shows. We follow John Crichton an Astronaut from earth's IASA (International Aeronautics and Space Administration) who finds himself teleported through the wormhole in to a completely foreign expanse of space.
